Peter Foulis grew up in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal. After completing his schooling at Grey (P.E) and Kloof High, he studied and pursued a career in Electronic Engineering and spectrophotometry, focusing his creativity on developing various business enterprises, before finally moving from the coast in 2001 to his farm in the Natal Midlands, where he set up his own studio and concentrated more fully on his art.

Peter opened Strokes Fine Art Gallery in 2006 on his farm “Inverness” in the Caversham Valley.

He has moved away from the tight, more formal techniques of his earlier water colours, preferring the vitality and flexibility of oils and acrylics, which he employs to good effect in his later, more vibrant paintings. Inspiration comes readily from the natural beauty of the countryside and the dynamic climate of the KZN Midlands, resulting in some spectacular skyscapes and vibrant contemporary landscapes. His work can be found in corporate and private collections in South Africa as well as in the USA, Sweden, UK and Europe.
